i feel like i've missed out on SO much after reading trudy's livejournal sigh which is well, mainly house comm. no mass dance pracs, no beta, no banner craze, no bonding with the ogls ):
me and my bro felt the family trip was a tad too long. but it was good in a way cos we've never spent so much together as a family. my parents were always at work and my brother has work and school at the same time. so coming back to an empty home was a complete norm. daily family dinners were never a practice. so it was a good way to bond? yeah plus visiting the extended family in honolulu (:
hawaii's pretty funny in a way cos they're completely away from the states and you feel this huge disconnection but they've integrated into the american way of life in so many ways.
and i realised the elderly there are really independant... they're not big on the take care of the old kinda thing cos the old well, they basically take care of themselves? like even my asian relatives practise that already. my seventy year-old grandaunt stays alone after her husband passed away, still drives this really cool car, watches korean drama and listens to jack johnson and taylor swift. heh.
i also went to the polynesian cultural centre where you can see all the cool tribes. but it rained the entire time so that was a mood dampener and we had to trudge around in our soaked shoes and ponchos. hmm.
got to try local food as well.. uhh, not to my liking.
shopping was good ;D
oh and i went to the pearl harbour memorial site. watched some pro american short film on the attack ahahha. apparently the site for the arizona memorial thing is sinking cos they built the site on top of what's left of the real ship (cool rusty stuff) and the real ship is sinking into the mud way way way below. slimy.
shinjuku is so compact and crowded i think my brother really really hated it. plus he doesn't like jap food so that's another bummer. haha disneyland omg it's just a money burner. and the sky turns dark at around 4 so basically i always felt it was time for dinner and sleep heh. i like the cleanliness and the service bit though.
